Our Vision Is For All Disabled People To Be Free To Fulfil Their God-Given Potential

About Us

If you have just discovered us – you are very welcome.  You can find out more below and in the ‘What we do’ section, and by browsing the site.  If we can assist you further, or you would like to get involved – please do contact us.

Through the Roof is a national, pan-disability, Christian ministry.  Since 1997 we have been seeking to ensure that the good news of the Christian message is accessible to everyone.  Our vision is freedom for all disabled people to fulfil their God-given potential.

Through the Roof seeks to positively influence church and society.  We act primarily as a catalyst for change, conveying a prophetic message where disabled people and others who have experience of disability – which we consider to include those with mobility impairments, learning disabilities or mental health issues, sight loss and those in the Deaf community – are valued equally, fully included, and able to contribute their gifts and skills.

As a registered charity, we equip churches and organisations to fulfil the Biblical message of inclusion, as well as providing opportunities for Christians to get involved with mission to and with disabled people, nationally and internationally.

The charity is governed by a small group of trustees, some of whom are disabled themselves, with experience and skills in Education, Accountancy, Business, Ordained Ministry, Health and Disability Charities.  The charity has two full-time paid staff and five part-time paid staff.  One of the charity’s programmes (DCF) is co-ordinated by a senior volunteer who is disabled herself, and the charity benefits from the involvement of over 100 committed, skilled volunteers across all its programme areas.

Why are we called Through the Roof?

The Bible tells a story of four men who took a paralysed man to Jesus. They couldn’t get in the room and lowered him through the roof. It was the partnership between disabled and non-disabled people that made it possible for that man to meet Jesus. Through the Roof seeks to work in partnership with disabled and non-disabled people to make the Gospel accessible.
